THE City of Windhoek (CoW) and the United States’ (US) City of San Antonio will sign a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on water systems on Friday, 26 July 2024.

CoW announced that this signing will be a key event during San Antonio’s mayor, Ron Nirenberg’s, ongoing working visit.

Nirenberg, accompanied by City Council member John Courage, Senior Vice President Donovan Burton, Chief Diplomacy and Protocol Officer Shahrzad Dowlatshahi, and Honorary Consul Robert Braubach, has begun a four-day visit to Windhoek to engage with the city.

Upon arrival, the delegation made a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Windhoek, Queen Kamati. The mayors discussed mutual challenges, particularly water scarcity, and emphasised the need for collaboration in managing and conserving water resources and improving infrastructure.

CoW revealed that, during their visit, Nirenberg and his team will tour key sites, including the Goreangab Water Reclamation Plant and a joint affordable housing project by CoW and the National Housing Enterprise, before departing on 28 July 2024.
