WINTER’S WRATH: The Western Cape has experienced a tumultuous week of weather, with heavy rainstorms, wind, and snow leaving a significant impact on the province. As temperatures dropped, parts of the Western Cape were blanketed in snow. The rainstorms have also caused considerable damage in the area, with assessments by Cape Town’s municipality indicating that more than 14,000 structures have suffered varying degrees of flooding or wind damage in the city. The downpours in the Western Cape are expected to persist, with the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issuing a level 8 warning for disruptive rain on Thursday across Cape Town, Drakenstein, and Stellenbosch. The effects of the snow, rain, and wind in the Western Cape Province are vividly captured in numerous photos shared on social media.
