EXTREME cold and frosty conditions are expected across various interior regions of the country on Tuesday.
This prediction by Namibia Meteorological Services further indicated that these frosty conditions will be particularly felt in the morning.
Unlike today’s cold weather, which mainly affected the central, eastern, and southern parts of the country, Tuesday’s low temperatures are anticipated to be more widespread, impacting various regions across the country.
According to the latest weather forecast from Namibia Meteorological Services, several interior areas from north to south can expect minimum temperatures ranging between 0°C and 2°C on Tuesday. These include Windhoek in the Khomas Region, Gobabis in the Omaheke Region, Rehoboth in the Hardap Region, Aus in the //Kharas Region, Okakarara in the Otjozondjupa Region, Rundu in the Kavango East Region, and Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region.
Several places have already experienced significant cold this morning. For example, Steinhausen in the Omaheke Region and Brakwater in the Khomas Region recorded a temperature of -4°C. A video showing snowfall at the Kalahari border between Namibia and South Africa has been widely circulated online, highlighting the extreme cold conditions in the south-eastern parts of the country.
While the interior is expected to brave the frost on Tuesday, Namibia Meteorological Services predicted that the coast will likely experience partly cloudy and mild conditions. The coastal towns of Henties Bay, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, and Lüderitz will likely not see temperatures drop below 10°C on Tuesday. However, some coastal places like Walvis Bay may experience patches of fog this week.
