THE Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) Regional Electoral Officer for Oshana Region, Amon Oiva Haimbangu, said that they have registered about 52,000 voters to date.
The General Registration of Voters kicked off on the 3rd of June and will conclude on the 1st of August 2024.
“This is far less than anticipated at this stage given that fewer days remain than those we have covered so far,” he said.
According to Haimbangu, there are a total of 229 registration points in Oshana where inhabitants can register for their voter cards.
Haimbangu then encouraged eligible Namibians to register in their respective constituencies.
“We urge people to register while there is time to avoid last-minute issues, as there won’t be an extension,” he added.
He added that there will be no supplementary registration once the general voter registration concludes.
The registration process will take place from Monday to Saturday, between 08:00 and 19:00.
