THE Oshikoto regional police commander, Commissioner Teopolina Kalompo-Nashikaku, has earnestly appealed to parents and guardians to be as protective of their male children just as they are of girls.
Her appeal follows after an eleven-year-old boy was allegedly raped by an older boy on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred in the Onkumbula village in the Okankolo constituency when the fourteen-year-old perpetrator found the victim alone in his mother’s house.
It is alleged that the suspect initially demanded and the victim obliged.
However, after he had eaten he grabbed the victim, put him on top of a bed and threatened him with a panga before raping him.
The suspect was arrested and was released into the care of his guardian.
He appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s court on Monday and was placed in the care of his guardian.
