THE Erongo Police arrested two men, aged 20 and 24, on Wednesday for possession of cannabis and mandrax valued at over N$100,000 in Swakopmund.
According to the police, an intelligence-driven undercover operation was conducted, which led to the arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of the drugs. The police revealed that the exact value of the drugs is N$111,310.
In a separate incident, the police arrested a 23-year-old man in Swakopmund on Wednesday for possession of cannabis valued at N$20,900.
The police revealed that the arrest came after they received information about drugs being sold at a specific house in Swakopmund. An undercover operation was then conducted, resulting in the discovery of the drugs and the arrest of the suspect.
“Our members are doing extremely well, and we should commend them. Arresting drug dealers requires intelligence-led policing and covert/smart operations. While we congratulate our members for a job well done, we extend our appreciation to those brave community members who share information and even resources to help the police in successfully removing drug dealers from communities,” Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba of the Erongo Police added.
