The Namibian Rugby Union on its Facebook announced that it is investigating a rugby incident during last weekend’s match between Grootfontein and Rehoboth Falcons that ended pre-maturely, with the score at 16-17 in favour of the visiting Reho Falcon, after the referee Oskar Lambert was flattened by a Grootfontein player.
This after the official awarded a penalty and red card against Northern Side. Prior to this, Grootfontein had been on the attack, with only minutes of the game remaining.
Grootfontein spoiled their chance to clinch the match while on the attack when their scrumhalf received a red card and his teammate stormed in from the wing and flattened Lambert with what seems like a shoulder charge. The NRU said there is no tolerance for this behaviour and will, announce steps after the investigation.
