The Namibian truck driver who was kidnapped in South Africa about a week ago has been found, while another Namibian truck was hijacked in South Africa on Wednesday.
“Another truck was hijacked yesterday (Wednesday) unfortunately. Our hope is that it will be recovered, as we wish for the apprehension of the perpetrators,” said Mbahupu Tjivikua, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Walvis Bay Corridor Group.

Tjivikua also disclosed that the truck hijacked a week ago remains unrecovered. The victim was reportedly blindfolded during the incident on the N3 route outside Harrismith.
“We are thankful that he has been found alive, even though all his documents and possessions are lost. The driver is currently with the Namibian Police Attaché to Pretoria, who is busy facilitating the repatriation process to Namibia,” said Tjivikua.
Tjivikua further cautioned Namibian truckers to be vigilant when traveling to and from South Africa due to increased hijacking incidents. Truck drivers who fall victim to hijackings are advised to seek assistance from the Namibian Embassy in Pretoria.
