THE initial phase of the project aimed at strengthening Henties Bay’s water infrastructure has commenced, with Strydom Construction securing the construction contract.
“Today, we celebrate the commencement of Phase 1 of this ambitious project: the replacement of a vital five-kilometre section of the water supply pipeline which is the lifeline of Henties Bay. The initial phase is crucial, laying the groundwork for enhanced water security,” the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NamWater, Abraham Nehemia, said.
Highlighting the strategic significance, Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, Calle Schlettwein, emphasized the importance of replacing this pipeline section to ensure a resilient water supply system capable of meeting peak demands.
“This project, therefore, represents a significant investment in our future. It signifies our determination to overcome the challenges posed by water scarcity and to ensure that our community can continue to grow and prosper. It is a clear statement of our commitment to sustainability, resilience, and the careful stewardship of our natural resources,” he said.
The minister also expressed pride in awarding Strydom Construction the construction contract as it is a Namibian-owned company. He added that this is indicative of the government’s dedication to supporting local businesses, fostering domestic economic growth, and nurturing Namibian talent and expertise.
“Strydom Construction, with its proven track record and dedication to excellence, stands as a testament to the quality and capability that exist within our nation,” Schlettwein said.
