THE relationship between Namibia and the United States of America (USA) remains resilient and continues to strengthen steadily, according to the USA’s Ambassador to Namibia, Randy Berry.
Berry said this following a recent courtesy meeting with President Nangolo Mbumba, where discussions centred on various issues aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
“We talked about a range of issues where we certainly see our relationship continuing to broaden and deepen for the benefit of all of our people,” Berry said.
Berry explained that he felt the need to have a meeting with President Mbumba to not only offer condolences on the passing of late President Hage Geingob, but also to assure President Mbumba of the continuation of the relationship between the USA and Namibia.
He emphasised that he wanted to assure that the programmes the USA has established will continue as the USA’s relationship with Namibia continues to broaden.
“We talked specifically about our health engagement, which is now a 19-year partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Services to help the country combat HIV and AIDS, which has been enormously successful for almost two decades now. So we talked about the success of that programme and where it might be headed,” Berry said.
Besides that, he revealed that they also discussed the USA’s private sector investment in Namibia, which employs Namibians and contributes to the economy.
