A TASTE OF NAMIBIA: IN an endeavour to increase local tourism, the Namibia Tourism Board has launched a media familiarization tour of north-western Namibia, with the first stop being the Erongo Mountain Winery, nestled along the Omaruru River. The 10-hectare piece of land is surrounded by the beautiful rugged mountains of the Erongo region and is pioneering the Namibian wine industry with new methods to produce unique wines and liqueurs under extreme conditions. The front house manager at the winery, Protasius Jeremia, explained that the vineyard has been affected by drought, which has been recurrent for 2 to 3 years, but that this has not deterred them from continuing operations. He added that they do not use their own grapes due to the drought but buy them from Stellenbosch and Stampriet.
