THE Karam Group, a diversified company with steel, nails, and pipes operations in Angola, has expressed interest in setting up operations worth N$1 billion in Namibia, with the potential to create 350 employment opportunities for Namibians.
This was announced by the Namibian Presidency and follows bilateral talks between President Nangolo Mbumba and President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço of Angola during President Mbumba’s recent one-day working visit to the Republic of Angola.
“The management team of the company informed the President that they had secured land in Windhoek and were hoping to reach a stage when they would commence operations in the near future,” the Namibian Presidency revealed.
Additionally, the presidency disclosed that President Mbumba and President Lourenço emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the fields of oil and gas, energy, agriculture, and water.
“President underscored that Namibia had a lot to learn from Angola in the Oil and Gas sectors. In that vein, President Mbumba and President Lourenço agreed to convene the Namibia-Angola Binational-Commission in the coming months in order to scale up mutually beneficial cooperation between Namibia and Angola,” the presidency added.
The Namibian Presidency further revealed that the two Presidents also reached an agreement to inaugurate the Cassinga Memorial in the coming months.
