THE Namibian Police in the Omusati Region are investigating a case of concealment of birth after a newborn baby boy was discovered dead on Monday.
Omusati’s Crime Investigation Coordinator, Moses Simaho, said that the lifeless body of the deceased was found wrapped in women’s clothes around 17:50 in the bushes behind Extension 9 in Outapi town.
“It is alleged that the suspect used an unknown method to cause the death of the infant and further concealed the birth following the gruesome discovery of the hidden infant. The lifeless body of the newborn baby boy was eventually found wrapped in women’s clothing material,” he said.
He added that the deceased is estimated to be 1-day-old.
Simaho indicated that the suspect is unknown at this stage; however, police investigation is ongoing.
