A 28-YEAR-OLD man from Karibib was gang-raped by three men and robbed of his belongings in the evening hours of Wednesday, 31 January 2024.
According to Warrant Officer Tashiya Tuyenikelao from the Erongo police, the rape and robbery incident occurred at about 22:00 at the B2 road Karibib roadblock site.
“It was further alleged that the victim was on an outing around the Usab location in Karibib with his two coworkers before going to the Karibib roadblock site to hitchhike back home. It is alleged that his coworkers got tired of waiting and went back to the location, leaving the victim at the site,” Warrant Officer Tuyenikelao said.
She added that the victim alleged that while waiting for a ride, he was approached by three unknown adult males who manhandled him, beat him up, forcefully removed his trousers, and engaged in a sexual act with him.
The suspects then allegedly fled under the cover of darkness along with the victim’s belongings, which include a Samsung A25 smartphone, an N$40 recharge voucher, a wallet containing N$300, and sandals.
None of the items were recovered, and no arrests have been made.
Warrant Officer Tuyenikelao cautioned community members not to walk alone in dark and isolated places during late hours.
