WHILE the rain remains generally mild in most areas, it is steadily persisting in various regions.
According to Namibia Meteorological Services’ recent rainfall measurements, a number of places in the Khomas Region recently received light rainfall, with Omateva, Bergvlug, and Windhoek recording 5.5mm, 4mm, and 1.8mm of rain respectively between Wednesday and Thursday morning.
The rain has also been persisting in the Otjozondjupa Region – which has consistently benefited from decent rainfall this week. Namibia Meteorological Services revealed that Grootfontein, Otavi, and Otjiwarongo recorded 8mm, 5mm, and 1.8mm of rain respectively between Wednesday and Thursday morning.

In the East, Omaheke Region’s capital, Gobabis, recorded 2mm of rain between Wednesday and Thursday morning, while in the West Erongo Region’s Omaruru recorded 3.3mm of rain during the same period.
The North also experienced some rainfall recently. Oshana Region’s Oshakati and Engombe recorded 8.4mm and 4.5mm of rain, respectively, between Wednesday and Thursday morning. In the North-east, some parts of Zambezi Region’s Katima Mulilo recorded 0.4mm of rain between Wednesday and Thursday morning, while other areas in the vicinity of Katima Mulilo Airport recorded about 2mm of rain during the same period. In the North-west, Kunene Region’s Outjo recorded 1.2mm of rain during the same period.
More rain is expected in a number of places for the remainder of this week. Namibia Meteorological Services identified Rundu, Ondangwa, Windhoek, Keetmanshoop, and Walvis Bay as some of the places that can expect showers during the next two days.
The Hydrological Services of Namibia predicted that light to moderate showers can be expected in most parts of the country for the next week, while heavier showers are forecasted for the north-western parts of the country.
The ongoing rainfall experienced in the country continues to be a cause for celebration on social media, where various Facebook users continue to share photos and videos of the rain in their respective areas, once again showcasing the love that most Namibians have for the rain.
