THE Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Region has urged people to be vigilant against scammers. This warning comes at a time when parents are busy buying back-to-school items for their children.
Oshana Community Affairs Officer Inspector Thomas Aiyambo said that this has now become a growing trend where they receive reports of people being scammed. According to Aiyambo, scammers come in different forms, such as requesting translation, giving directions, or taking parcels to an unknown person who does not speak the local language.
“We also have those people telling others that they are selling cheaper goods behind shops, then they rob our people,” he said.
He added that scammers are also back with their old trick of telling people that they are selling cheaper fish and *Omatangala. People must avoid falling victim to those telling them that they are selling cheaper school uniforms behind supermarkets.
Aiyambo mentioned that this case is mainly reported in the areas of Ongwediva and Ondangwa.
