THE operational mobility of the Namibian police received a significant boost on Tuesday when Marine Joao, a well-known veteran of the liberation struggle and businessman, stepped in to assist with the fixing and servicing of police vehicles in the Oshana Region.
According to Thomas Aiyambo, the police community affairs officer, Joao, commonly known as Shiti-Shombe, volunteered to repair five police cars that either have slight damages or overdue services. This initiative aims to ensure their availability during the festive season and beyond.
Aiyambo mentioned that quotations were obtained from suppliers, and Joao purchased the required parts at a total cost of N$13,000. The donation was handed over to the Regional Commander, Commissioner Naftal Sakaria, on Tuesday afternoon.
