NamPower invests heavily in education

EDUCATION is the centrepiece of any empowerment initiative and forms the basis for the growth and development of communities and the nation at large.

This was the sentiment expressed by Simeon Amunkete, Senior Manager of Human Capital and Chairperson of the NamPower Advisory Committee, during the handover of infrastructure and school equipment to eight local schools in the Oshikoto region on Friday.

Amunkete emphasized that education is one of the critical sectors that will empower future generations while contributing to the government’s efforts to improve school infrastructure. NamPower has invested over N$3 million in these projects.

“NamPower commits to continuing its investment in the socio-economic development of our communities as long as resources allow,” he said.

He also noted that for the NamPower Foundation, it is essential to create an enabling environment by supporting the education sector.

Amunkete explained that the Foundation has been assisting the education sector through infrastructural development, renovations, the donation of computers, and the provision of stationery and furniture to schools and kindergartens, among other initiatives.

All 14 regions of the country have benefited from the support directed towards the education sector thus far.

Furthermore, Amunkete pointed out to the beneficiaries that the donation is a treasure, a step forward in terms of the facilities that the schools need. However, all this progress is at risk if they don’t take care of them for the use of future generations.

He urged them to guard these infrastructures and equipment against vandalism.
