THREE wanted suspects in connection with armed robberies were arrested by police in the Erongo Region on Thursday.
Erongo Community Affairs Inspector Ileni Shampumba said the police apprehended three suspicious individuals at Bank Windhoek in Walvis Bay, following police intelligence indicating they were targeting tourists and clients withdrawing cash.
Shampumba explained that after profiling them, it was revealed that they were wanted by the police for armed robberies elsewhere. Therefore, they will be detained on a warrant of arrest.
“We continue to sensitize our communities to be alert, particularly at banking institutions when withdrawing significant sums of money,” he said.
He further encouraged communities to utilize other facilities such as online banking to avoid becoming victims of robbery and other crimes.
Shapumba also encouraged people to remain vigilant and share information with the police regarding any suspicious individuals in their vicinity or neighbourhood at all times.
