PREPARATIONS are underway for the 16th edition of the Helao Nafidi Business Expo, where over 100 local and international exhibitors are expected to showcase their products and services.
This year’s expo is being held under the theme: “Innovate to Unveil the Hidden Treasure” and will kick off from October 20 to November 4, 2023.
The town’s Mayor, Darius Shaalukeni, said the expo plays a vital role in the growth and development of the town, as it provides a platform for people to network, share ideas, and grow their businesses.
Shaalukeni, who indicated that the town is a hidden treasure as it is strategically located along the Namibia-Angola border.
In 2003, Helao Nafidi was proclaimed as a town and has grown over the years, having five settlements which are Onhuno, Ohangwena, Omafo, Engela, and Oshikango.
This, Shaalukeni said, places the town at the end of the receiving end of tourists who come in and out of the town, which will result in boosting the town’s economy.
“Helao Nafidi is a hidden treasure, and for us to bring it out, we need to think out of the box and be more innovative, creative, and unique to stand out,” he said.
Thus, Shaalukeni said they have attracted a large number of SMEs, manufacturers, agricultural industries, local traditional and service providers to this year’s expo.
He said this is being done in a way the exhibitors can go beyond the expo once it concludes and create lasting relations for their businesses.
“We are not saying people should come and exchange money but rather network and share ideas on how to grow their businesses,” he concluded.
Minister of Trade and Industrialization, Lucia Iipumbu, will officially open the expo.
