THE Anti-Corruption Commission has confirmed the arrest of four Zambezi regional council employees.

This comes shortly after the arrest of Karasburg Mayor and two councillors who were arrested last week and granted bail of N$1000 over the weekend after facing charges of conspiring and abuse of power in contravention of the Anti-Corruption Act.
Josefina Nghituwamata, Public Relations Officer at the ACC, confirmed that the four employees of the Zambezi Regional Council have been detained in connection with a corruption investigation being conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The four appeared in the Katima Mulilo Regional Court and were granted bail of N$50,000 each. It is alleged that the four employees are being investigated for the embezzlement of around N$4 million.
They are accused of corruptly using their position or office for gratification in violation of section 43(1) read with section 35 of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2003 (Act No. 8 of 2003).
