THE Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has joined forces with the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) to kick off the E-Government Hackathon competition.
The launch event took place at the NUST HTTPS centre in Windhoek, setting the stage for a tech-savvy showdown.
The E-Government Hackathon competition is open to participants from both NUST and the University of Namibia (UNAM). According to the ministry, the primary objective of this competition is to foster innovation and creativity by challenging participants to create a prototype for a government information hub.


During the official launch ceremony, Fillemon Johannes, the Deputy Director at MICT, urged participants to put their skills to the test and develop a sustainable solution for E-government. The Deputy Director emphasized the importance of E-government in modern governance and encouraged the tech enthusiasts to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
The E-Government Hackathon is not only a platform for showcasing talent but also an opportunity for participants to make a meaningful contribution to the advancement of E-government in Namibia.
With the 7th National ICT Summit just around the corner, the launch of the E-Government Hackathon has set the stage for an exciting journey of innovation and collaboration in the world of technology. The competition represents a significant step towards enhancing government services and creating a more digitally connected Namibia.
