A MALE toddler who was left in the care of his grandmother when his guardian went to work Wednesday morning, has drowned in a water bucket where the lifeless body was found that afternoon.
The incident occurred in the Okapilangi village in the Ruacana Constituency, Omusati Region.
It is alleged that the 23-month-old child was taken to his grandmother’s house, which is nearby when his aunt and guardian left for work at around 07:00.
According to the police, the child walked back home unnoticed by the grandmother.
The police said that the child went straight to a water tap and drowned while trying to drink from a 20-litre water bucket.
A 94-year-old man who was in the house did not notice anything.
The deceased’s lifeless body was found submerged in the water bucket at around 13:30.
