HUNDREDS of learners from various schools in the Ohangwena region and members of the public marched in Eenhana as part of an awareness campaign for the regional activation of the National Symbols Campaign.
The campaign was officially activated by the Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology, Peya Mushelenga.
Mushelenga emphasized that National Symbols should serve as a reminder of their shared identity, aspirations, and ideals for a united and prosperous Namibia for all.

According to Mushelenga, the National Symbols Campaign aims to instill a sense of patriotism among citizens, a value that has existed for over 2000 years. He stressed that it’s not just about flags and anthems; it’s about fostering unity, embracing diversity, and working together towards a brighter future.
“Let us seize this opportunity to activate the power of our national symbols, igniting the flames of unity in the Ohangwena Region and spreading throughout Namibia,” he said.
Mushelenga indicated that ultimately, the National Symbols Campaign serves as a vehicle for transforming themselves into a greater Namibian nation. He emphasized the importance of inclusivity in realizing their development goals.
“Our national symbols reflect Namibia’s pride as a country and the treasured ethos of all Namibians,” he added.
He further described them as a torch of optimism and a fruit-bearing tree that brings shade to people with a common vision.
Mushelenga urged Namibians to use the campaign as an opportunity to engage every citizen, encouraging them to take pride in their symbols and become builders of a greater Namibian nation.
