THE 2023 U.S. – Africa Business Summit has officially started, with Vice President Dr Nangolo Mbumba leading the Namibian Delegation to represent the country at the summit in Botswana.
The Summit, which is being held in Botswana’s capital city, Gaborone, will end on 14th July. It is being hosted by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) in partnership with the Government of Botswana under the theme “Enhancing Africa’s Value in Global Value Chains”.
The event aims to explore a renewed commitment by both public and private sector stakeholders to strengthen trade, investment, and commercial ties between the United States (U.S.) and Africa. The Summit intends to bring together more than 1,000 U.S. and African private sector executives, international investors, senior government, and multilateral stakeholders.

“The summit showcases ground-breaking initiatives and projects that are transforming industries across Africa. Attendees immerse themselves in knowledge, gaining valuable insights into navigating the evolving business landscape,” CCA shared.
CCA added that the summit will cover a range of sector and country-focused plenary sessions and roundtables, and Namibia’s session will take place on 13th July from 12:00 to 14:00.
The speakers for Namibia’s session will include Dr. Mbumba, Lucia Iipumbu, the Minister of Industrialization and Trade, and Nangula Uaandja, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB). Namibia’s session, which will be livestreamed on the NIPDB’s Facebook page, will focus on the country’s ambition to become Africa’s sustainable capital.
