A FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy has been released into parental care after making a brief court appearance on Tuesday.
The accused rapist is alleged to have raped an eight-year-old boy in Oshikuku, in the Omusati Region, recently.
The case has been postponed to September 20, 2023, for further police investigation.
According to Omusati police commander Commissioner Ismael Basson, the crime took place in Okalindi village near Oshikuku on May 21 but was only reported to the police recently.
Basson stated that the victim was alone at home when the suspect arrived there “to take a bath.” However, upon discovering that the boy was alone, he seized the opportunity and raped him.
The incident was reported to the police by the victim’s 57-year-old aunt.
