THIS morning at Sapirama village in the Kavango West region, a 17-year-old girl named Maria Isoni Simbungu was killed by her father.
According to Inspector Raimbert Muronga of the Namibian police, the murder took place at approximately 08:00.
It is alleged that the suspect, a 55-year-old biological father, stabbed his daughter twice in the chest with a knife while she was asleep in her room. She died instantly.
The suspect reported the incident to the police and has been arrested.
The motive behind the act is yet to be established through the ongoing investigation.
The next of kin has been informed, and the body has been transported to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Police investigations are still underway.
