Sam Hamunyela quits the RDP

Maria David

RALLY for Democracy and Progress (RDP) member Sam Hamunyela has resigned from the opposition party founded in 2007 by former Swapo Party stalwarts Hidipo Hamutenya and Jesaja Nyamu. Hamunyela, who was one of the most active RDP mobilizers in the north and once served as the party’s youth league, recently tendered his resignation letter to the party’s secretary-general.

“I thank you for the time we worked together as comrades, especially during the formation of this political party, of which I served as one of the national leaders,” he wrote in a letter seen by Informante.

Hamunyela, a teacher by profession and a businessman, stood as an independent candidate in the Endola constituency of the Ohangwena Region during the 2020 regional council elections.
