The Namibian Police in the Oshikoto Region arrested a well-known Namibian Forex trader on Friday after a defamation case was opened against him at the Walvis Bay Police Station.
It is alleged that the suspect recently posted naked pictures of the complainant on his Forex trading Instagram page and messages referring to her as a “bitch”, which, according to the law, are all of defamatory nature.
The authorities further detailed that the suspect, who is an ex-boyfriend of the victim, was arrested in the area of Omuthiya, Oshikoto Region, and is expected to make his first court appearance in the Ondangwa Magistrate Court within 48 hours.
In the Namibian legal context, Crimen Injuria is a punishable crime under common law, which is defined to be the act of unlawfully, intentionally and seriously impairing the dignity of another, caused by the use of indecent, offensive language or gestures.
