THE Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Peya Mushelenga has announced a recent cabinet directive which will see the transition of the Food Bank Programme to a Conditional Basic Income Grant (CBIG) cash transfer amounting N$ 600 per household.
The changes form part of cabinet decisions issued at the third (2023) decision making Meeting.
“Cabinet took note and Supported the transition of the Food Bank Programme to a Conditional Basic Income Grant (CBIG) cash transfer of (N$600) per household, monthly for the existing (8,339) food bank beneficiaries,” Dr. Mushelenga announced.

He further added that cabinet took note that the Ministry of Gender, Poverty Eradication and ‘Social Welfare has implemented the Integrated Social Assistance System (ISAS), which is a web application linked to the National Population Registry System (NPRS) administered by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security to facilitate the verification of the authenticity of national documents, life status which will help prevent duplication in benefits.
