LACK of basic sanitation is a rural problem.
Hence, the Oshana Regional Council has budgeted over N$2.1 million during the current financial year for the construction of130 rural toilets.
Oshana Regional planner Jekonia Nangolo said that under the rural sanitation budget, the Ongwediva Rural Development Centre was awarded the contract to supply the need for the structures.

The toilets will be constructed in all 11 constituencies.
Okaku and Okatana will each get 20 and 16 toilets respectively.
Meanwhile, Ongwediva and Ondangwa Rural will both get 15 toilets due to the ever-growing population.
Nangolo indicated that a total of 13 toilets will be constructed at Uukwiyuushona, while 11 toilets will be constructed at Oshakati East.
Ondangwa Urban, Uuvudhiya, Oshakati West, Okatjali and Omupundja will each get 8 toilets.
During the financial year 2021/22, a total of 70 toilets where constructed at an amount of closer to N$1.1 million.
