A FEMALE domestic worker was arrested by the Namibian police at Tsumed, Oshikoto Region, accused of stealing her employer’s jewellery valued at approximately N$100 000.
The alleged crime occurred while the employer was on vacation between 21 December and 14 January.
It is alleged that the 31-year-old employer entrusted his domestic worker to look after the house in his absence.
However, when he returned on Saturday he discovered that his jewellery box was missing.
According to the police, the domestic worker initially pleaded ignorance, but later confessed to the police that she stole and sold the valuable items, namely rings, bracelets, watches, earrings and necklaces.
All the items were recovered and handed over to the lawful owner.
The suspect was arrested and was expected to appear before the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
