TWO suspected mountain zebra hunters were arrested in the Maltahohe area on Friday.
They face charges of “hunting of specially protected game without a permit”.
It is alleged that two male suspects, aged 38 and 48 respectively, committed the alleged crime at the Nanania Safari Ranch where they hunted, without permit, two Mountain Zebras with a total value N$9 200.
The carcases were recovered and the suspects were arrested.
Police investigation continues.
In a separate incident, two male suspects, aged 21 and 44, were arrested after hunting an Oryx at the Otjikondo Farm near Outjo without the farm owner’s permission.
The alleged crime was committed Friday morning.
It is alleged that the duo employed their dogs to hunt down the Oryx which they then killed with a spear.
The Oryx is valued at N$10 000.
The suspects were arrested and the meat was recovered and handed over to the lawful owner.
