THE International Criminal Police Organisation, commonly known as Interpol, has issued an arrest warrant for the well known Angolan business woman, Isabel dos Santos, following a request by Angola’s prosecutor general.
According to the Angolan and Portuguese media, Isabel dos Santos is suspected of having defrauded the Angolan state of an amount of money that is equivalent to N$3,58 billion.
She is the first born of former Angolan president Jose Eduardo dos Santos and was for many years the head of Sonangol, Angola’s petroleum corporation.

Her business empire extends to countries in Europe and Asia as well as Africa, including Namibia.
Her current whereabouts is unknown, but is regularly spotted in Portugal, the UK and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Interpol document quoted by Angolan and Portuguese media, Isabel dos Santos must be traced, arrested and extradited to Angola to face a litany of charges, including embezzlement, money laundering, fraud, illegal business activities and criminal association.
Angolan authorities promised that her extradition will be in conformity with national laws and or the applicable bilateral or multilateral agreements.
If convicted she faces a maximum of twelve years imprisonment.
Although her current whereabouts is not known, she is regularly seen in Portugal, the UK and the United Arab Emirates.
