The Trustco NTA Junior Masters tennis tournament took place on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 October 2022, and yet again served up to its reputation as the premier junior tennis tournament on the annual tennis calendar. Hosted by Trustco Group Holdings (Trustco) and the Namibia Tennis Association (NTA), the Trustco NTA Junior Masters is an exclusive event with an elevated level of prestige amongst the top qualifying junior players of Namibia. This prestigious event is by invitation only and players qualify on ranking points accumulated throughout the year.
After a grueling first round of tennis, the official opening of this annual event took place on Friday evening at the Central Tennis Courts in Windhoek. At the occasion, the President of the NTA, Samson Kaulinge, thanked Trustco for the unwavering support ‘’We are extremely honored as a tennis association to enjoy the level of support from our main sponsor, Trustco. You have been walking this path with us for years now. Junior tennis would not be where it is today without your genuine support, thank you once again.’’ he said.
The competitive nature of junior tennis came to the fore in the blistering heat on Saturday afternoon, as temperatures also heated up on court. The top ranked players settled scores for the final time this year, as the pendulum has shifted constantly over the last couple of months. Players in the age and gender groups under 10 to under 18 took part.
“At our last Trustco NTA Junior tournament held in September we saw a new set of junior players. Yes, a couple appeared self-conscious at their early success on the medal podium today, but all of them deserve their accolades. Well done to all the players! Each and every one of you gave it your best shot, and that was on display on the courts all weekend. We want to thank the NTA for again joining us in ensuring the growth of junior tennis in Namibia,” Neville Basson, Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Trustco said.
The Chairperson of Junior Tennis Namibia, Santie van Der Walt, said, “It stays a privilege to be partners with Trustco Group in ensuring junior tennis still remain at the center court of junior sports in Namibia. This gives us the opportunity to develop tennis from grassroots level and up, in all communities countrywide. Trustco, thank you – we feel inspired knowing that we enjoy your unwavering support,” she said.
