Thundershowers expected this weekend

Staff Reporter

WITH the exception of the north-east, most parts of the country can expect rain and thundershowers this weekend, which will likely continue into next week.

This is according to weather predictions by Namibia Meteorological Services, which identified Windhoek as one of the places that will receive rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Meteorologists also indicated that the rain and thundershowers will likely be triggered by the unstable weather conditions that persisted throughout this week. These rainy conditions are predicted to come with partly cloudy and hot to very hot conditions in the interior, while the coast can expect partly cloudy and mild to warm conditions on Saturday.

In the Centre, Windhoek can expect a minimum temperature of 18°C and a maximum temperature of 32°C. At the Coast, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and !Nami#nus can expect minimum temperatures ranging between 12°C and 14°C, with maximum temperatures ranging between 19°C and 24°C.

The North-east, which is not expected to receive rain this weekend, will likely see some of the highest temperatures on Saturday. In this regard, Rundu, in the Kavango East Region, and Katima Mulilo, in the Zambezi Region, can expect minimum temperatures of 18°C and maximum temperatures of 38°C and 36°C respectively.

Namibia Meteorological Services also predicted that the interior will remain windy. Most places in the interior can therefore expect moderate north-westerly to south-westerly winds. However, the South can expect fresh to strong southerly winds on Saturday.
