THE North is still expected to bear the brunt of the heatwave, which persists over the interior of the country, while the South can expect rain showers on Wednesday and Thursday.
This is according to weather predictions by Namibia Meteorological Services, which indicate that most northern towns will likely record maximum temperatures ranging between 37°C and 41°C on Wednesday.
The highest temperatures are once again expected in Ondangwa, in the Oshikoto Region, where a minimum temperature of 22°C is expected, with a maximum temperature of 41°C.
The north-west will most likely also remain hot on Wednesday as many towns in the area are expected to record minimum temperatures ranging between 21°C and 22°C and maximum temperatures ranging between 39°C and 40°C. These places include Sesfontein and Opuwo, in the Kunene Region, as well as Okahao and Outapi, in the Omusati region.
Similar temperatures are also expected further South in Mariental, where a minimum temperature of 22°C and a maximum temperature of 39°C is expected on Wednesday. Other places in the Hardap Region such as Aranos and Maltahöhe will likely record minimum temperatures ranging between 20°C and 23°C and maximum temperatures of 37°C.
In the //Kharas Region, Karasburg, Aroab and Keetmanshoop are expected to record minimum temperatures ranging between 20°C and 21°C and maximum temperatures ranging between 35°C and 36°C.
Keetmanshoop was also identified as one of the southern towns that can expect showers on Wednesday and Thursday.
While the hot conditions persist in the interior, the coast can expect a partly cloudy and cool to mild Wednesday. In this regard, minimum temperatures ranging between 10°C and 12°C and maximum temperatures ranging between 18°C and 20°C can be expected in Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay and !Nami#nus.
