NAMIBIA Meteorological Services predicted that heatwave conditions will persist for the rest of the week in the North – and this sweltering heat will be felt in most northern towns on Thursday as maximum temperatures ranging between 37°C and 41°C are expected.
According to Namibia Meteorological Services, the highest temperatures are expected in Ondangwa, in the Oshana Region, and in Opuwo, in the Kunene Region, as these towns will likely record minimum temperatures ranging between 22°C and 23°C, with maximum temperatures of 41°C on Thursday.
Namibia Meteorological Services also predicted that Eenhana, in the Ohangwena Region, and Omuthiya, in the Oshikoto Region, will record minimum temperatures of 22°C, with maximum temperatures ranging between 39°C and 40°C on Thursday.
In the North-west, Khorixas, Outjo and Sesfontein, in the Kunene Region, are expected to record minimum temperatures ranging between 19°C and 22°C, with maximum temperatures ranging between 38°C and 39°C. In the Omusati Region, Outapi and Okahao are expected to record minimum temperatures of 22°C and maximum temperatures of 39°C and 37°C respectively.
In the North-east, Nkurenkuru, in the Kavango West Region, Rundu, in the Kavango East Region, and Katima Mulilo, in the Zambezi Region, can expect minimum temperatures of 18°C, 19°C and 16°C respectively, with maximum temperatures of 38°C.
The rest of the interior will also be hot on Thursday, although not as hot as the North.
In this regard, Windhoek and Rehoboth, in the Centre, are expected to record minimum temperatures of 20°C and maximum temperatures of 34°C and 35°C respectively. In the South, Mariental, in the Hardap Region, and Keetmanshoop, in the //Kharas Region, are expected to record minimum temperatures of 20°C and 15°C respectively, with maximum temperatures of 35°C and 33°C respectively.
In contrast, the Coast will likely be partly cloudy and cool to mild. Namibia Meteorological Services predicted that Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, !Nami#nus and Henties Bay will likely record minimum temperatures ranging between 10°C and 12°C, with maximum temperatures ranging between 18°C and 20°C.
