A BABY girl was found dumped and wrapped in a headscarf near a wall in the area of Evuluuluko on Thursday evening.
The discovery was made by two siblings who allegedly heard the cry of the baby next to their gate.
An eyewitness, Onesmus Shitaleni, told the police that he went outside to get his clothes from the hanging line at the time.
According to Community Affairs Officer Inspector Thomas Aiyambo, the witness allegedly heard the dog barking non-stop at the gate side, and when he came closer to the hanging line he heard the baby crying.
“He allegedly went to wake up his sister and went to open their small gate when they realized that the baby was wrapped with a head scarf and was placed next to the wall near their gate,” he said.
He added that they then alerted the police, who came to the scene.
Aiyambo stated that no suspect has been arrested yet. Hence, the police are now appealing to the public to assist the police in finding the mother of the baby. The public was also asked to inform the police if they know of anyone who was pregnant and does not have a baby.
