Cold conditions expected after a hot Saturday

COLD arctic air is expected in the South on Sunday, which is predicted to spread to the central and eastern parts of the country by Monday and Tuesday – but this is only expected to come after Saturday’s hot to very hot conditions.

This is based on weather predictions by the Namibia Meteorological Services, which indicate that Saturday will come with sunny and hot conditions for central northern regions, while the rest of the interior can expect partly cloudy and hot conditions.

In the Ohangwena Region, Helao Nafidi and Okongo is expected to record minimum temperatures of 15°C and maximum temperatures of 34°C on Saturday. The Oshana Region, Ondangwa and Oshakati are expected to record minimum temperatures of 19°C, with maximum temperatures of 36°C and 35°C respectively. In the Omusati Region, Okahao and Outapi are expected to record minimum temperatures of 17°C and 19°C respectively, with maximum temperatures of 34°C.

In the north-east, Rundu, in the Kavango East Region, and Katima Mulilo, in the Zambezi Region, are expected to record minimum temperatures of 17°C and maximum temperatures of 36°C.

Namibia Meteorological Services further predicted that Windhoek and Rehoboth, in the centre, can expect minimum temperatures of 13°C and 14°C with maximum temperatures of 28°C and 29°C.

In the Hardap Region, Mariental and Maltahöhe can expect minimum temperatures ranging between 12°C and 13°C with maximum temperatures ranging between 28°C and 31°C. Further South, in the //Kharas Region, Keetmanshoop and Karasburg can expect minimum temperatures of 10°C and maximum temperatures ranging between 29°C and 32°C.

The //Kharas Region will likely also receive a few odd showers on Saturday. Keetmanshoop was identified in this regard.

According to Namibia Meteorological Services, the southern coast can also expect a few odd showers on Saturday, while the rest of the coast can expect partly cloudy conditions. For Walvis Bay, Saturday will come with mild conditions and a few fog patches.

Namibia Meteorological Services further predicted that Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay and !Nami#nus are expected to record minimum temperatures of 11°C, 8°C, 10°C and 10°C and maximum temperatures of 21°C, 18°C, 16°C and 17°C respectively on Saturday.
