THE body of 67-year-old South African man visiting Namibia was discovered at the Fish River Canyon, after a hiking expedition gone wrong.
According to Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga, the deceased’s body was discovered on Thursday morning about 6km from AI-Ais Lodge in the dry sand of Fish River canyon.
Kuwinga stated that the deceased was reportedly on a hiking tour with other tourists at the time of the incident.
However, on Wednesday Kuwinga indicated that the deceased was left behind by others, but failed to reach to his final destination, which is AI-Ais Guest Lodge.
“The fellow tourists went back today (Thursday) to search for him and unfortunately found him dead,” he said.
Kuwinga stated that there is no foul play suspected as the death could be caused by tiredness.
The deceased next of kin is yet to be informed.
