A TOTAL of 4 077 deaths has been counted during the outbreak of coronavirus, according to Minister of Health and Social Service Kalumbi Shangula.
Shangula revealed this during the launch of the Cancer screening and health awareness campaign at Indira Gandhi health centre in the Onemanya area.
Shangula stated that they have just emerged from the devastating impact of Covid-19 pandemic in Namibia.
“The psychological impact of Covid-19 on the populace has been immense. This has once more underscored the importance of psychosocial services,” he said.
He added that their social workers and psychologist could hardly cope with bereavement counselling as the number of deaths kept on rising.
Shangula stated that to date, the ministry have recoded 4 077 deaths in which Covid-19 was involved, and the service providers themselves also required the same service.
The Ministry has also removed all Covid-19 restrictions effective from the 15 of July 2022.
