Mildly cold weather conditions expected to persist in the South

THE South’s cold weather, which set in on Thursday, is expected to persists on Friday, with the coldest conditions expected in the southern-most towns, such as Aus and Karasburg, which are expected to record minimum temperatures of 2⁰C.

According to Namibia Meteorological Services’ predictions, the Hardap Region can expect mild conditions. In this regard, Mariental – which is expected to be a popular destination this weekend given the Heroes’ Day celebrations – is expected to record a minimum temperature of 6⁰C, with a maximum temperature of 26⁰C on Friday.

Other places in the Hardap Region are predicted to record similar temperatures on Friday. For example, Aranos and Maltahöhe are expected to record minimum temperatures of 6⁰C and 4⁰C respectively, with maximum temperatures of 26⁰C and 27⁰C.

Further South, in the //Kharas Region, Keetmanshoop and Aroab are expected to record minimum temperatures of 3⁰C, with maximum temperatures of 20⁰C and 22⁰C respectively. Aus and Karasburg, which are expected to record minimum temperatures of 2⁰C, will most likely record maximum temperatures ranging between 18⁰C and 20⁰C.

Namibia Meteorological Services predicted that the South’s cold and mild weather will come with partly cloudy conditions, while the rest of the interior is expected to be sunny and warm to hot.

Just like the coldest conditions are expected in the southern-most towns, the warmest conditions are expected in the northern-most towns. For example, Rundu, Ondangwa and Opuwo are expected to record minimum temperatures ranging between 10⁰C and 12⁰C, with maximum temperatures ranging between 30⁰C and 32⁰C.

The Centre is predicted to be warm, with Windhoek and Rehoboth, expected to record minimum temperatures of 8⁰C and maximum temperatures of 28⁰C.

While the North and South are contrasted between hot and cold weather, the coast is expected to have partly cloudy and mild conditions, with fog patches.

According to Namibia Meteorological Services, !Nami#nus and Walvis Bay can expect minimum temperatures of 6⁰C, while Swakopmund and Henties Bay can expect minimum temperatures of 10⁰C. The aforementioned coastal towns, with the exception of Henties Bay, are expected to record maximum temperatures of 18⁰C. It is predicted that Henties Bay will only reach a maximum temperature of 16⁰C.
