THE possibility of there being a serial rapist in the vicinity of Ongwediva cannot be excluded after two incidents of rape were registered in the area in a space of less than 24 hours.
The victims are aged thirteen and eleven respectively, and the alleged rapist is still unknown.
In the first incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped at Eefadoukadona village near Ongwediva. She was walking to a neighbouring house at around 15:00 Tuesday when she met a man who grabbed her and pulled her to the ground before proceeding to rape her.
According to the police, the suspect is unknown but the victim said she would be able to identify him if she sees him again.
The second incident occurred at around 14:00 on Wednesday in the Oidiva village, also in the Ongwediva area.
It is alleged that the victim, aged 11, was on her way from school when she was approached by a stranger who started talking about love and when she showed no interest, the unknown suspect grabbed the victim and raped her.
Both incidents were reported to the police by the victims’ parents.
