THE body of a seven-year-old boy, Ernesto Kaimeb Tsamaseb, was discovered in a shallow grave in a riverbed near Dibasen High School in Okombahe settlement on Tuesday, after the boy went missing the previous day.
According to the Erongo Police, Tsamaseb went missing from his grandmother’s house on Monday at about 12:00. He was allegedly last seen with his 17-year-old relative who resides in the same house. It is alleged that Tsamaseb followed the relative to the field, before he was told to return home.
Tsamaseb’s family reported the missing child to the police on Tuesday around 9:00 and the police and community members started searching for the boy. His body was then discovered buried in a riverbed at about 15:00.
After removing the deceased’s body from the shallow grave, the investigation team observed a wound on the forehead, a suspected broken neck and blood coming out of the victim’s ears.
The police said that the cause of death is still unknown at this stage.
The deceased’s body was taken to Okombahe State Clinic and will then be transported to the Walvis Bay Police Mortuary for post-mortem examinations to determine the cause of death.
The police revealed that two suspects have been detained in connection with the incident. One of the suspects is the 17-year-old that was last seen with the deceased. The other is a 26-year-old relative of the deceased.
The next of kin have been informed.
