Oshana gears up for Top Score Oshiwana Tournament

PREPARATIONS are in full swing for the hosting of the annual Top Score Oshiwana Tournament in the Oshana region.

The tournament is set to take place at the Uukwangula Stadium outside Oshakati from 18 to 21 August.

The launch will take place on 17 August.

Tournament organiser Jackson Felisberto Peuyelenga Da silva, said that this year’s tournament caters for 7-a-side soccer and volleyball.

Da silva stated that they are introducing volleyball this year after noticing an increase in volleyball activities in the country.

“Volleyball needs to be empowered, supported, motivated and appreciated,” he said.

He revealed that 80 soccer teams and 40 volleyball teams have registered for this year’s event.

The event brings together soccer and volleyball lovers to celebrate the spirit of Ubuntu and the positive impact of having a united community.

The winner of the tournament in the soccer category will walk away with N$10 000, a floating trophy, gold medals and a kit.

The second-placed team gets N$7 000, silver medals and a kit, while the team in the third place will get N$3 000 and bronze medals.

The winner of the volleyball tournament will get N$8 000, a floating trophy and gold medals. The second-placed team walks away with N$5 000 and silver medals and the third place gets N$3 000 and bronze medals.

Namib Mills’ Top Score has been funding sports activities in the country and they are committed to continue supporting and uplifting sports development countrywide, said Da Silva.
