Thundershowers expected to persist until Wednesday

Staff Reporter

RESIDENTS at the coast woke up in a cold and wet Namib on Monday after rain fell throughout the night that is spreading to other parts of the country with thundershowers and frost predicted for certain areas.

According to Odillo Kgobetsi, a forecaster at Namibia Meteorological Services, the thundershowers will persist in the south, south coast and central coast until Wednesday.

Kgobetsi also predicted thundershowers specifically for the //Kharas region, the Hardap region and parts of the Omaheke region on Tuesday.

While the northern areas of Namibia are expected to be partly cloudy and mild to warm on Tuesday, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy and mild to cold.

The central and western parts of the country can also expect frost on Tuesday.

The rest of the interior will experience north-westerly and south-westerly winds, which will most likely start in the afternoon.

Many people shared photos of the coastal towns’ wet streets on Facebook.

One of the photos was shared by West Coast Safety Initiative – Namibia on Facebook, with a warning to adapt speed and driving habits as the Swakopmund and Walvis Bay roads are slippery.
