SUICIDE incidents are becoming increasingly prevalent, particularly in northern Namibia, where two 55-year-old men from different regions allegedly took their own lives on Wednesday, within 12 hours.
According to the Namibian Police, one of these incidents took place in the Ohangwena region, where Lazarus Haimbodi allegedly shot himself in the mouth with a pistol and died at his house in the Oilyateko village at about 7:30.
The police said that the motive behind his suicide is not known. However, they added that the deceased was mourning his wife who passed away the previous day. The deceased’s next of kin has been informed.
In another incident, Simon Amutenya Pelema also shot himself in the head with a shotgun at about 19:30. The police said that the incident took place at the deceased’s homestead in the Okeeholongo village in the Omusati region.
The police said no suicide note was found but they do not suspect any foul play.
The next of kin have been informed.
