THE Erongo police have asked for assistance in tracing 24-year-old Dylon Mourice Ezterhuizen who escaped from custody on Monday.
According to the police, the incident happened around 17:20 at the Swakopmund police station.
“It is alleged that the suspect unlawfully and intentionally escaped from the police station after he and eight other inmates were brought back from the Swakopmund State Hospital where they were taken for medical treatment,” the police said.
Ezterhuizen was in custody for housebreaking with the intent to steal and theft case.
The suspect is a resident of Tamariskia in Swakopmund and has family in Rehoboth and South Africa.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urgently requested to contact Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu at 081 246 4757, Detective Warrant Officer Samuel Auxab at 081 276 6844 or any nearest police station.
