THE Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture is currently hosting regional consultation meetings in every region to obtain the public’s input concerning the challenges affecting education.
“Please add your voice to the debate, discussions and innovative ideas, actions or strategies on how we in Namibia can transform education,” the ministry shared on their Facebook page.
According to the ministry, the consultation meetings aim to identify targets to ensure recovery from disruptions caused by Covid-19, find approaches to transform educational policies and facilitate discussions on possible measures that can make financing education equitable and sustainable.

“We have made quite meaningful contributions in the consultative engagement (so far) and one of them is to implement a comprehensive programme that will equip and train teachers to teach the new curriculum,” a representative from the Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO) said.
“We have also contributed that ICT should be introduced at the primary level already in our schools. One of the other things that we also looked at is looking at having sanitary pad dispensers at our schools as well and also at institutions of higher learning,” the representative added.
The regional consultations started on 30 May in Keetmanshoop for the //Kharas region and are scheduled to end on 11 June in Oshakati in the Oshana region. A schedule detailing the date, time and venue for every region’s consultation meeting is available on the ministry’s social media pages.
“Join us in your regions and be part of the discussions on how we can transform education in Namibia. Your inputs will make a meaningful contribution,” the ministry shared.
